The process of making shoes for the bride is very similar to making other bespoke designed shoes, except invariably there is an ultimate deadline and dress fitting dates that cannot be missed. A common challenge when it comes to making the wedding dress, is having shoes for each of the fittings with the correct heel height. Using the real wedding shoes risks damaging them so other shoes are often used during dress the fittings, which may result in the wrong hemline being set. When we make wedding shoes, we always make a mock-up pair for the bride, with the correct heel height, primarily to check the fit and comfort prior to making the final shoes. These mock-ups can be kept at the dress-makers in readiness for every dress fitting, ensuring that the correct hemline is set.



Starting the design process early is critical. We suggest that the process starts at least six months before the wedding day to ensure a successful outcome.
